Acting and Audition Masterclass with

Philip Hernandez

Renowned Broadway and television actor and acting teacher Philip Hernandez brings his decades of experience to MCT for a one-time-only acting masterclass and audition workshop. Through Philip’s expert instruction, you will learn how to prepare mentally and physically so you can be comfortable and confident in auditions and performance. Philip will help expand your knowledge and awaken your creative imagination so you can bring the full force of your passion to every performance. The class will include warm up exercises, monologue work, and a Q&A session with Philip.

Date: Saturday, February 6th, 2016

Time: 11am – 2pm.

Location: The Bridge Church. 1 Norwood Ave., Malverne. Lower level.

We are starting promptly at 11 – please be on time.

Admission prices

Full participation in the masterclass, including working on your prepared monologue with Philip: $50

Audit admission: Attend the masterclass, watch, but don’t participate: $20


  • Students must bring a one minute dramatic or comedic monologue that they have prepared ahead of time.

    • Prior enrollment and payment is required to reserve a spot in the class. No walk-ins allowed. Space is extremely limited.

About Philip Hernandez

1113_Philip_Hernandez-115-XL[1]Philip is a respected acting and singing coach in NYC.  He is also the only man in Broadway history to have played both Jean Valjean and Inspector Javert in Les Miserables. He made his Broadway debut in the Original Cast of the Tony Award-winning Kander and Ebb musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, directed by Harold Prince. In Kiss, he created the role of Esteban and later went on to play the impassioned revolutionary Valentin in London’s West End and on Broadway. Philip also created the role of the Reverend Gonzalez opposite Marc Anthony and Ruben Blades in the Original Cast of Paul Simon’s The Capeman. He also played Rico in the National Tour of Barry Manilow’s Copacabana and played Juan Peron in Harold Prince’s 25th Anniversary North American Tour of EVITA.  He is equally at home in plays and musicals and has performed in both at many of America’s most prestigious regional theatres.

Philip’s television credits include roles on Blue Bloods, Gotham, Nurse Jackie, Person of Interest, Elementary, Hostages, The Mysteries of Laura, Damages, Ugly Betty, Made in Jersey, Law & Order, and the daytime dramas All My Children, One Life To Live, Loving and Another World.

His students appear on television and in films, on Broadway and off, and in regional theatres and national tours across the U.S.  As a private coach in NYC, he prepares students for auditioning and working professionally in theatre, film and television.  He studied acting under legendary acting teachers Stella Adler and Larry Moss.
